Summary: Warren County Schools is committed to identifying and supporting gifted learners across all grade levels. Our updated AIG Plan includes several enhancements designed to strengthen services, expand access, and respond to state feedback. 1. Clearer Identification Process a. Universal screening and clear referral options for all grade levels. b. More comprehensive criteria, including achievement, aptitude, diagnostic data, and student work samples. c. Improved equity efforts to identify underrepresented students. 2. Strengthened Programming a. Clear descriptions of services by grade span. b. New options for flexible grouping, talent development, and differentiated support. c. Enhanced social-emotional supports and individualized student plans based on identified needs. 3. Enhanced Staff Qualifications and Professional Development a. A plan to ensure AIG licensure for the lead coordinator and specialists. b. Expanded and targeted professional development aligned with best practices in gifted education. 4. Increased Family and Community Engagement a. Plans to establish a Parent Advisory Committee. b. Ongoing communication with families, staff, and the public about AIG services and student opportunities. 5. Stronger Monitoring and Program Evaluation a. Clear systems to monitor student data, evaluate program effectiveness, and adjust services based on feedback. These changes ensure equitable access, high-quality services, and improved outcomes for all gifted students in Warren County. The updated plan reflects both state recommendations and our local commitment to continuous improvement.
Funding: Additional costs for: o Professional development for staff and extracurricular activities for AIG students. o Implementation of an alternative aptitude assessment to prevent language bias will incur additional costs. o Universal screening for 2nd and 5th grade students will also incur additional costs.
